5th Avenue Cafe & Market has a wonderful menu with selections that are vegetarian as well as some for those who eat meat. It has a wonderful atmosphere, but at night is not very kid friendly. During the day, however, I have taken my daughter many times. I prefer their dinner chef to their lunch chef, and therefore try to go later in the day. They often have wine tastings and events with local musicians and artists. It is $15-$30 a plate in the evening, and portions are not big enough to share. However, their food is well worth the price. Some of my favorites are the Pot Stickers and their Cashew Ginger Tofu. They also have a juice/coffee bar, and a market to buy organic grocery items. I highly recommend driving out to Mount Dora to eat here.
Heidi wife to Richard and stay-at-home mom to Abigail. She is expecting her long awaited second child in december. Heidi does everything in life as naturally as possible, and someday hopes to own a store that carries all of the natural things she uses on an everyday basis. Heidi enjoys cooking, sewing, spending time with her family, and hopes to one day be certified in homeopathy, as an herbalist, and also as a midwife.
We went about a year ago and enjoyed it. We actually went without the kids for lunch and then realized we could have brought them! We haven’t been for dinner though…
I had recently heard some negatives on one of those sites (chowhound or something like that), so I was glad to see your review! Can’t wait to hear about others’ experiences.
Four young moms, four toddlers, two infants and two more in the oven…that was our party at 5th Avenue Cafe today! The food was excellent. And, Jill, our waitress, could not have been any more helpful or nicer. She opened the side french doors to let us all in, moved tables around, navigated strollers and even retrieved a sippy cup from one of the parked strollers to fill it up with water for one of the toddlers.
I had the quiche of the day, which came with salad, and also ordered a cup of broccoli soup. My meal was very tasty. My friend also indulged my fork with samplings from hers and her son’s plate, while another friend gifted me with her potato salad. My friend’s black bean burrito was excellent, but her son’s chicken quesadillas were the best out of everything I sampled today.
The restaurant is well worth the 20-30 minute drive from Seminole County. It was also nice for the toddlers to play on the sidewalks of this trendy, small-town, while us moms got to do a little bit of shopping, too!
One more thing to keep in mind if you are with a group of small children…they only have one highchair.
