I had the opportunity to meet Shanna Rae Horstmeyer at the Sanford Farmer’s Market a few weeks ago. :) Her booth was called “Shanna Rae’s Sweets” and got my attention because I was in the midst of planning a birthday party for my two little ones. Each year, it is a challenge because I needed to purchase a cake made from scratch that was free of artificial flavors, dyes, and other additives. Finding an all natural birthday cake outside of Whole Foods was nearly impossible!
While I could make the cake myself, I wanted to eliminate the stress of baking for a large crowd since I had other things to attend to. When I asked Shanna about the ingredients she uses, she explained that, while she didn’t normally use all organic/natural ingredients, she was open to special orders and ingredient requests.
Therefore, I hired Shanna to prepare 60 cupcakes using all natural ingredients. The cupcakes were reasonably priced (even with the adjustment for ingredients) and she even delivered them to the party for a small fee. She was extremely helpful and always quick to return calls and emails. The cupcakes were a hit, with the chocolate with vanilla frosting being the most popular!
