DreamHost web hosting is not local but they are one of the only eco-concious web hosts I have found. Many of our local readers are involved in their own business websites or blogging so I thought I’d share a great option for hosting while still staying eco-friendly. On their website DreamHost explains that they have done a thorough analysis on what it takes to run their business including everything from office paper use to gasoline used to get their employees to work. They found that they generated as much carbon dioxide as 545 average size homes - and they decided to do something about it!
DreamHost has implemented many changes (like coffee cups made from renewable resources) and even invite suggestions on their website. They are now carbon neutral through the use of renewable energy credits and certified by Green-e. Besides this they also offer some wonderfully afordable hosting plans with the promise of personalized service. They also have a great blog that gives you a presonal glimpse of the owners. I would recommend Server Intellect over DH just for the support alone We had lots of issues with DH in the past.
