Finally! Holistic Childbirth Preparation will be offered right here in Central Florida! Soon our community (and surrounding areas) will have several trained Birthing from Within mentors ready to offer childbirth preparation in a way that meets the needs of our holistic birthing community.
Pam England, artist and midwife, developed Birthing from Within. She is the author of a magnificent book by the same name which I feel every birthing mother should read. The philosophy of Birthing from Within goes beyond the physical side of birth into spiritual and emotional preparation. It addresses the mother, father, and baby’s view of birth not the medical establishment’s view. One of my favorite lines by Pam England is that “there’s the kind of knowledge that is in your head and another kind that is in your heart, you need both in order to give birth”. Too many of our childbirth preparation classes fall short of allowing a woman to explore deep within herself. The results are a culture that fears birth, one of the highest cesarean rates in the world, unnecessary interventions, negative view of one’s own birthing experience, and the list goes on and on. Through a process called “birth art” one begins to uncover what lies within our consciousness that will affect our labor and birth experience. It’s time for us to awaken to our highest potential as women and as spiritual beings. Here is an opportunity to facilitate this awakening in our fellow sisters and in turn the world.
Birthing from Within Level I mentor training will be held here in Orlando on Nov 9-11. This training is mostly held in the south west and western regions of the US. And Usui Teate Reiki Practitoner.
Pushed and Birthing from Within were both part of the required reading in my CBE Classes and also my Birth Doula Classes. I loved both of them. I have family in Orlando and was thinking of making the trip. So if you could please get that information to me it will help with my plans.
