After being very frustrated in trying to find a Pediatrician in Central Florida that had knowledge of and practiced alternative therapies, was okay with delayed/non vaccinating (she has you sign a waiver), and was pro breastfeeding,I had pretty much given up hope of ever finding my ideal pediatrician. After meeting with yet another prospective pediatrician I had resigned to having to settle for someone. Then my midwife told me about Dr. Lisa Ramey.
I looked at her website and was immediately impressed. I went ahead and made a “Meet the Doctor” appointment. Her staff was very friendly over the phone, and I immediately felt welcomed. I went to her office, and I could tell the buildings we fairly new. When I went inside I was immediately welcomed and felt right at home. The waiting room was separated into well and sick child, and the toys were extremely clean. In fact the whole office was so clean, that when they told me they had been there a year I couldn’t believe it.
Dr. Ramey came out and got us, and my daughter immediately took to her. She was very welcoming and was great with my daughter. I talked to her a little about my concerns from past pediatricians and she told me how she would handle those situations. I was very impressed by her. She is very open with her patients and likes to talk to you about what treatments to take with your child. She wants to know what things are important to you and listen to your concerns. She will do research on something if she doesn’t know much about the topic and get back to you.
She tries to answer all of the after hours calls herself, even if she is out of town. She tried to only go out of town for a day and if she is out of town any more then that she will get another doctor to come in to the office. I was wondering why I had never heard of her before, but apparently she has been on the teaching staff at Florida hospital for 20 years, and has only had her own practice for a year. My daughter didn’t want to leave! She is also very big into preventative medicine, and does the walk for diabetes every year. Her entire staff is warm and wonderful.
She is not quick to hand out prescriptions, and does wonderful alternative therapies such as using BICOM Resonance Therapy. She suggested this for my 3 year old when she got a double ear infection, and after the first of 2 treatments I could already tell a huge difference in her mood. With the 2 treatments we didn’t have to use a prescription. Doctor Ramey and her staff have been great and were even patient and understanding when my daughter was less than cooperative. I am done looking for a new pediatrician.

Heidi enjoys cooking, sewing, spending time with her family, and hopes to one day be certified in homeopathy, as an herbalist, and also as a midwife.
This is great news, Heidi. I look forward to your update in December.
After reading this article, I eagerly set up our first appointment with Dr. Ramey for my three little ones, Adam (3), Hannah (18 months) and Jacob (9 months). I was very impressed with the friendly office staff and the nurse, who spend alot of time listening to our needs. Dr. Ramey was very attentive. Hannah has allergies, severe eczema and asthma. I didn’t even have to get the words “delayed vaccines” out of my mouth regarding my three children because Dr. Ramey suggested it herself based upon her examination and history of Hannah and Jacobs compromised immune system. The treatment recommended for Hannah was not steroid based but zinc, omega and dietary changes which has not completely healed her skin but there are MAJOR improvements. When Hannah suffered her first “true” asthma attack, the office immediately had her brought in and provided her with the appropriate nebulizer treatments. As far as I am concerned this is the best of both worlds. The only downside is that she does not follow in the hospital so when Hannah went to Florida Hospital later that day due to worsening asthma, she was followed by unknown physicians. Dr. Ramey did indicate that she works closely with other physicians for hospitalizations which I will follow up with if there is a next time for a hospital stay. I am really pleased with the complete body care that Dr. Ramey and her staff provide to my children.
