I just had the loveliest conversation with Daisy, owner of a new boutique and art studio in Winter Garden. The store has educational toys, special occasion clothing, and heirloom gifts by local artists.
In addition to the great products they offer, the art studio has sewing and quilting classes for children! On Saturday mornings they offer a free craft class for 7-12. This is a great spot for our children to learn the “lost art” of handiwork! I mentioned to Daisy it would be great if she offered a homeschooling class.
If you are looking for top notch toys for your kids, this is the place. She has all the good wood toys, Haba, Imagiplay, Guidecraft, and so many others I can’t list them all! They also carry tons of craft supplies for all of your projects.
Daisy Boutique and Art Studio is located at 103 South Main Street in Winter Garden. If you stop by, make sure and talk with Daisy, she is great!
Her is another suggestion for Fun Stuff For Kids- Grow a TickleMe Plant
I thought your young gardeners would enjoy an indoor gardening adventure, growing the TickleMe Plant (Mimosa pudica). Recently featured by the National Gardening Associations Kids Store, http://www.kidsgardeningstore.com/14-1030.html
If you want to give your young gardeners an experience they will never forget, consider having them grow a TickleMe Plant. This is the plant that will close its leaves and lower its branches when you tickle it. They sprout in days and can be grown indoors any time of year. Just Google TickleMe Plants or go to http://www.TickleMePlant.com for seeds and growing kits. This plant has turned many kids into plant and nature lovers. I know, because I grow TickleMe Plants in my classroom.
What a great idea. I will mention it to one of the art instructors and tie the Tickle Me Plant to our two week summer mornings camp theme: Playful Garden: “Whimsical Critters”
Thanks for the post. I grew my own TickleMe Plant and i must say my kids love the plant how its moves when Tickled It’sa real conversation piece at my home. I love the party favors they have at http://www.ticklemeplant.com and we are using them for my daughters 9th Birthday party.
I am glad I read this article. We stopped by Daisy’s Children’s Boutique & Toy Store this weekend after we eating breakfast at a French pastry, Sweet Traditions on Plant Street. Anyhow, Daisy’s boutique is beautiful, both the interior and exterior. My wife was able to shop while our daughter played with the wooden toys in the children’s room. I got to sit on the rocking chair in the porch. Daisy is very friendly and helpful with suggestions. Good luck, Daisy. Here is her website http://www.DaisyBoutiqueAndToys.com
