Owner of Timmy’s Toy Chest, Lin Hanzelko, recently attended Toy Fair 2008 in New York. When asked what this year’s hottest toy is she said,
“This year I can say, there is no stand out toy but a recurring theme: Organic, green, or ECO toys are all the rage. I was able to find some great new products. I also listened to my customers and found many toys from the USA and countries other than China. These products will be arriving all year long and we are excited to share them with you!”
Lin has already began stocking some of these great products and is positioning Timmy’s Toy Chest as a local option for safe, eco-friendly toys. Some of the items arriving soon are from Haba Toys and MiYim. Haba Toys are unique, safe wooden infant toys made in Germany. MiYim offers an adorable plush line made with certified organic cotton, certified non-toxic and chemical free coloring and a low-impact dye process. Timmy’s Toy Chest also has some wonderful events coming up. On Saturday, March 29th at 5:30pm they will host Mr. Richard in concert. On Saturday, April 5 at 5:30pm Mad Science will perform a science themed show. This fun, action packed show is appropriate for all ages but especially children in grades K-6.

Daisy’s Children’s Boutique and Art Studio in Winter Garden on Main Street has a huge selection of wooden, eco-friendly toys for infant and toddlers. She even has organic plush toys and rattles for infants. She has organic infant products, like organic blankets, buntings, onesies, mittens, wash cloths, hooded towels, etc. One of the art instructor makes infant booties, hats, and sweater out of 100 percent organic yarn. Downtown Winter Garden is beautiful. There are more boutiques and restaurants there also. I almost forgot to mention that she also sells custom painted furniture using low VOC paint. Her sister-in-law, who is a designer in New York City, mixes small amounts of pigments and only makes the amount that she is going to need to paint a piece of furniture. You can bring a fabric swatch or a color you saw in a magazine and her sister-in-law can make the exact paint color. She also offers custom designed heirloom gifts, like an infant’s quilt.
