It’s fall allergy season again and allergy sufferers everywhere are popping anti-allergy medication. Do you ever wonder, though, if there’s a more natural way to prevent and treat your allergy symptoms? There is a sweeter alternative to synthetic allergy medications and one local company is helping central Floridians breathe a little easier in their own backyard thanks to the health benefits of ….. honey.
Winter Park Honey is truly local honey. This fabulous local company specializes in raw, unfiltered organically produced honey harvested in hives from Lake Buena Vista to Apopka. How is their honey different than the honey that you buy in grocery stores? When honey is allowed to be unfiltered and raw, it contains much more enzymes, vitamins, minerals and – here’s the key- pollen. The pollen in the honey comes from the bees who are pollinating local plants, the same plants that we react to in central Florida during allergy season. By consuming very tiny amounts of this local pollen, your immune system can naturally and gradually boost itself to prevent the occurence of allergies.
Many, many studies have proven the health benefits of local honey, especially for the prevention and minimization of allergies. But the key is that it has to be local, to contain the pollen from the same plants whose pollen you’ll react to during allergy season. That’s why Winter Park Honey is such a blessing for central Floridians who are searching for a more natural cure for their allergy symptoms.
Even if you’re not interested in the health benefits of honey, the exotic tastes of Winter Park Honey will be a delight for any food lover. There’s a wide range of flavors, ranging from the delicate tastes of the seasonal spring and fall honey to the rich, thick molasses taste of the Avocado honey. In between are flavors such as Clover, Tupelo, Orange Blossom, and Palmetto. Or try a flavored honey such as Key Lime whose tart key lime taste combines with the sweet taste of honey for an intriguing ingredient to marinades and salad dressings.
Try out these wonderful flavors at our local farmer’s markets where Winter Park Honey offers taste testings similar to tasting great wines – you’ll get a swizzle stick coated with the honey of your choosing and you can compare to other honey flavors to judge each honey’s intensity and sweetness. Winter Park Honey has booths at the Winter Park Farmer’s Market, the Maitland Farmer’s Market and the Celebration Farmer’s Market. Or stop in for a cup of tea at Infusion Tea in College Park where a bottle of Winter Park Honey is available on every table.
If you’re searching for wholesome recipes using honey as a sweetener, head on over to the recipe section of Winter Park Honey’s website. There you’ll find a wide array of recipes, such as Honey Pumpkin Pie, perfect for this autumn’s holiday season.

Thanks for this great post!
well done! Thx!
bee keeper,
I have a bee hive in my yard abnd heard that bee keepers are in need of bees and would “relocate” the bees.
I have a hive about 15′ up an oak tree, in a knot hole. the outside crawlies seems to be about the size of a large basketball/beachball. It has been there for about 3 or 5 months.
I don’t want to be a bee keeper and am afraid of them. Could you come get them or give me the name of someone who may want to take the bees away?
