It’s time to receive new phone books for the upcoming year. AT&T has already made the rounds and dropped off phone books for the 2010 year in my area. If you never use the phone book, or just don’t want to receive a new one each year, you can call AT&T directly to put a stop to phone book delivery.

On the inside of the AT&T phone book on page 3 there is a number to call for customers wishing to receive fewer directories. The number is (866) 329-7118.
I spoke with a live person who answered the phone right away. You can choose which directories you’d like to receive or simply discontinue all directories. You can change your mind at any time by calling the same number. You must give your home telephone number, address and name on the account.
The process is quick and easy and hopefully will reduce the countless number of trees required to make phone books which many people just don’t use anymore. You can always access AT&T’s White and Yellow Pages online by clicking here.
Keep in mind that old phone books can be recylced in your paper recycling bin or special bins set up specifically for phone book recycling. Look towards your specific county or city recycling guidelines for more information.

Just found out that 18 million trees are cut down EACH YEAR just to make phone books that not everyone wants. 18 MILLION!!!!!! If you don’t use your phone books, please call to stop receiving them. Every single person that requests a stop delivery will help.
