PREPARATION FOR BREAST AUGMENTATION
Preparation for breast augmentation surgery: The plastic surgeon will first check whether you are in good health. You must be well informed and have realistic expectations about the outcome of a breast correction, the risks associated with plastic surgery and the postoperative period, before you make an appointment for the operation. It is also important that the doctor understands which size of breast implants you want. Before surgery, your breasts are measured and the plastic surgeon puts markings on your chest.
The plastic surgeon also decides where the breast implant will come. The breast implant can be placed partially or completely under the pectoralis major muscle (submuscular) or on top of the muscle and under the glands (subglandular). The doctor will determine the location in consultation with you.
That depends on your physical characteristics, such as how much breast tissue you have and whether you intend to do heavy physical work.
HOW DOES THE OPERATION WORK?
With an aesthetic breast enlargement an incision is made. This incision can take place in different places:
- Under the chest: The incision is made in the crease under the chest. That is the most common method.

- In the armpit: The incision is made in the armpit.
